In the 19th century the construction of a canal from Roanne to Digoin and the development of the terracotta industry for tile making created a new boom era for the village of Briennon.Today, this leafy canal is a centre for river tourism, attracting nature lovers from far and wide. Visitors can enjoy long walks and bike rides along the canal towpath to see the Teyssonne canal bridge, the confluence with the River Sornin and Briennon lock.
