The villages here, surrounded by neat countryside, still feature vast wooden chalets and balconies dripping with flowers. This is where the delicious Abdondance cheese is made from the milk of the Abdondance cow, and the name is an apt one. There is an abundance of interest on offer here, with dozens of excellent restaurants where you can try local dishes such as Berthoux after having a go at the host of activities on offer in the 'Portes du Soleil' throughout the summer. Don't miss the spectacular Fantasticable in Châtel and the downhill mountain biking trails at Les Gets and elsewhere, or a visit to the Abbaye d'Aulps.
